Adventures of Pi Pi [皮皮]

Documentation of an immigrant

Adventures of Pi Pi is a work-in-progress solo performance that investigates Southeast Asian identity and female-ness in a post colonial capitalist context.

Pi Pi grew up in Asia learning that the West is better. In the West you can be YOU. Pi Pi has finally arrived on the shores of England. What lengths will Pi Pi go to in order to successfully integrate into London life?

Based on my encounters as an immigrant in London, Pi Pi was born in 2017.

Pi Pi hopes to speak up against racism, explore gender identity, discover how to embrace femininity and cultural identity in the context of post colonialism and capitalism.

This is Pi Pi’s manifestation of Southeast Asian feminine confidence.

The 1st adventure, Trans-forming Pipi was performed at Bethnal Green Working Men's Club for Cuntemporary's Deep Trash: Royal Trash and at Toynbee Studios as part of Steakhouse Live, London, 2017.

Trans-forming Pipi was devised and performed by Lara Buffard, Gur Arie Piepskovitz.

The 2nd adventure, Pi Pi Go West was performed at an online live arts evening salon, The Giving, 2020.
